We have been there …
Consultants on Purpose, LLC was formed in
1996 to help nonprofit organizations succeed in competitive, changing
markets. A team of experienced professionals, our purpose is to bring
comprehensive, integrated approaches to nonprofit planning, management,
and board, program and resource development.
Our firm brings together three principals with extensive experience in
and commitment to nonprofits. We can help nonprofits, particularly smaller
ones, which need expert counsel and service, but are unable to afford
it on a full time basis. The principals of the firm are:
- John M. Cornman, who has over 20 years of experience running nonprofit
organizations;
- Barbara K. Kincaid, a fundraising professional with nearly 20 years
experience in nonprofit social service agencies and higher education;
- Roy R. Coffin, an Episcopal priest who is trained and experienced
in transition management and conflict resolution, and
Based on our diverse experience in nonprofit and government organizations,
we know what happens when:
- in the real world of constant change, organizations must repeatedly find new directions to
pursue their missions effectively.
- the passion for an organization’s purpose
and shared goals seem to disappear.
- budgets tighten.
- external influences keep changing.
- miscommunications remain unacknowledged
and unexamined.
- misunderstandings sap an organization’s
energy and will.
- internal tensions cause disruptions, generate
conflict.
We also know that a straightforward, honest “outsider” often can:
- ask the critical questions;
- help identify the causes of disharmony and conflict;
- help revitalize the organization; and
- assist in examining, refining, or setting new goals
For these reasons, we decided to pool our experiences to help organizations
facing such challenges. We offer our services as Consultants
on Purpose, LLC.
